William Elvin Perkins III, age 75, passed away in his home on October 24, 2024, in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Born on November 3, 1948, Bill was known for his vibrant personality and love for entertaining those around him.
Bill is survived by his son, Brent Perkins and wife Leigh of Atlanta, Georgia; grandchildren, Jackson and Pressley; daughter, Beth Goff and husband TJ of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; grandchildren, Karoline and Anderson; sister, Betty Jo Perkins of Mobile, Alabama; and aunt Helen Perkins of Griffin, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Peeples Perkins, mother Carolyn Perkins and father William Elvin Perkins II of Griffin, Georgia.
Bill graduated from Griffin High School and furthered his education at Tennessee Tech University earning a football scholarship. His career at Lockheed Martin was marked by global travel and significant contributions to his field. Bill also served commendably in the Marine Corps, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel, a testament to his dedication and leadership for his country. Beyond his professional life, Bill enjoyed retired life in Myrtle Beach fishing, singing, and playing guitar . His love for karaoke nights was well-known among his circle, bringing smiles and laughter to many.
A small, private gathering will be held with family to honor Bill's life. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Wellspring Church's LoveMB initiative, which serves the Myrtle Beach community, a cause close to Bill’s heart. www.wellspringchurch.tv
