Steven Eugene Kirby
November 12, 1948 - July 3, 2024
Steven Eugene Kirby 75, of Longs, SC passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 3, 2024. Steven was born in Hickory NC to the late Samuel Eugene Kirby and Kathleen Tolbert Plemons. Steven was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to all who knew him. He played football for East Carolina University and later played semi- pro football. He was also a NASCAR driver and private pilot. Steven grew up with a love for horses. He raised and showed beautiful Quarter horses and received may awards. He was a US Army Special Forces Green Beret and owned and operated Watermark Business Forms for many years. He was a realtor with The Hoffman Group, and a dedicated partner at Valorous Church in North Myrtle Beach. Steven was always happy to share his quiet, but confident testimony of our Savior, Jesus Christ with his friends and family.
He is survived by his loving wife, Pamela Dale Kirby of Longs, SC; sister, Wynda Howerton of Black Mountain; brothers, Phillip Hennessey and wife, Giovonnia, and Tommy Henessey and wife, Gail of Morganton; daughters, Deven Ward of Hickory, Caroline Smith and husband Chris, of Taylorsville, Caitlin Clark and husband, Colby of Mooresville; grandchildren Savannah Smith, Maggie Smith, Cannon Clark, Cadence Clark; step sons, Alexander Cruz of Myrtle Beach, Tyler Cruz of Conway; grandchildren, Gracie Johnson, Hayden Cruz, Mason Cruz, Nixon Cruz, and Giovanni Cruz.
A funeral will be held July 20, at Bass Smith Funeral Home in Hickory, NC.
