Steven Joseph Green
July 26, 1961 – April 20, 2025
Steven Joseph Green, 63, of Dunn, North Carolina, passed away unexpectedly on April 20, 2025. Known to most simply as Steve, he was a loving, caring, and hardworking man with a heart of gold.
Steve spent much of his life under the hood of a car, working as a mechanic—a job that wasn’t just his trade, but his passion. He dedicated many years to the Sampson County Bus Garage and Pepsi, keeping things running smoothly until his retirement. After retiring, he enjoyed a quiet and happy life at home with his beloved wife, Martha.
He found joy in the simple things: tuning up cars, catching his favorite TV shows, spending time with family, and sharing quiet moments with the love of his life. To know Steve was to be met with kindness. He had a gentle spirit and a love for people that made everyone feel like family.
Steve is survived by his devoted wife, Martha Green of Dunn; his son, Joseph Green (Ashley Rudolph) of Chattanooga TN, his stepchildren and their spouses, Mark and Katie Schmitt of Fayetteville, NC, and Kevin and Lauren Schmitt of Parrish, FL. And his grandson, William (Liam) Rudolph along with his many wonderful friends.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his warmth, humor, and generous heart will live on in the lives he touched.
Arrangements pending. The family would like to thank the Horry County EMS and Coroners Office for their compassion and service.
