Sally Beth Miller Patterson

June 20, 1935 - June 24, 2024

Sally Beth Miller Patterson, 89, of Pawleys Island, SC, passed away on Monday, June 24,
2024. Sally was born in Florence, SC to James P. and Veeta R. Miller.

Sally grew up in Bennettsville, SC, and she graduated from Bennettsville High School in
1953. She attended Winthrop College for two years and graduated from the University of South
Carolina in 1956. She taught school in Columbia, McColl, Bennettsville, and Rock Hill, SC, and
was a nursery school supervisor in Okinawa, Japan. After receiving her Masters + 30 from
Francis Marion University, she was a guidance counselor in Horry and Georgetown counties.
She and son, Roddy, owned and operated Sally’s Galley in Pawleys Island for several years. She
always kept up with the times and enjoyed “interviewing” others to get to know them. She loved
a good party and threw many iconic gatherings in her day. She was a loyal friend and kept up
with those she knew from her early school days, high school, and college, until her passing.

Sally is survived by her son, Roderick G. Patterson Jr. of Pawleys Island, and two
daughters, Mary Seth Luoma (David) of Hemingway and Leland Miller Patterson Hood of
Georgetown; grandchildren, James Edward Walker Jr., Courtney Sierra Lockamy, Tristan Miller
Hood, and Patterson Elisabeth Hood; great-grandchildren, Jacob Lee (Allison), Dakota Walker,
Mia Walker, Riley Howle, Katori Walker, Isaiah Walker, Cheveyo Walker, and Samuel Walker;

great-great-granchildren, Anderson Lee and Hampton Lee; nephew, James Phillip Miller (Mary
Ellen), and niece, Mary Miller Driggers (Bobo).

Sally was predeceased by her parents, her older brother, Joel Manship Miller, her
nephew, Dennis Rasor Miller (Pam), her grandson, Samuel Charles Walker, and her godson,
Henry Fletcher Solomon.

A celebration of life for Sally will be held at Belin United Methodist Church in Murrells
Inlet, SC on June 29, 2024 at 10 A.M.

The family will be receiving guests at 113-2 Knight Circle in Pawleys Island, SC after the
service.
