Richard Zanone Obituary

Richard Dale Zanone’s life journey came full circle on March 10, 2026

He was born on June 26, 1962 in Atwater, California to Robert J Zanone and Claudia Rae (Carrick) Zanone

After 2 years in California his family relocated to Utah where they settled after his Dad retired from the Air Force.

Dale loved growing up in the beautiful mountains of Utah and a had an adventurous childhood traveling and camping with his family and attending large family gatherings with his extended family.  He loved camping, hiking, fishing and skiing.  He was athletic and played football and baseball, and enjoyed golfing, bowling and tennis.

One of his favorite passions was hunting and he enjoyed teaching others how to hunt.  He was lucky enough to be able to do different types of hunting in the different areas that he lived in.

He also enjoyed singing and playing his guitar

Dale attended schools in Sunset, Utah and was alumni of Clearfield High School class of 1980.

He proudly served in the US Coast Guard and retired after spending many adventurous and exciting years serving in Japan, New York City, Washington state, Oregon, California and Michigan.

After he retired he traveled and lived in Utah, Idaho, Nevada, Connecticut and South Carolina to be near family.  He settled in Little River, South Carolina where he has lived for the past 13 years.

As a proud Coast Guard Veteran, Dale often reminisced about his thrilling and sometimes perilous adventures he had as a rescuer, paramedic, firefighter and mechanic on board the many vessels he served on.

Dale was known for his kindness, generosity, fun and happy personality and his smile and laugh.

He was pre-deceased by his Father, Sister Kathy and Brother Dwayne.

He is survived by his loving family including his wife Ellen, his daughter Courtney and Grandsons Gio and Leo, his Mother Claudia Rae, His brothers David (Kris) brother Danny, Sister Julie and his loyal dog Bella.

He also leaves behind his large extended family and many friends who he grew up with and who he met in his travels and his fellow Coasties.

We will always cherish all of our wonderful memories together and never forget you Dale.

Thank you to everyone for reaching out with your kindness during this difficult time.

A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date so that family and friends can share stories and fond memories of Dale
