Milton “Mel” Ervin Hofmeister, Jr., age 78, passed away Thursday, November 27, 2025 at his residence with his loving wife and daughter at his side.
Mel was born March 29, 1947 in Belleville, IL., a son of the late Milton E. Hofmeister and Louise Monroe Hofmeister. Mel attended Belleville High School and graduated from Southwest Illinois College. Mel was a longtime resident of Belleville, IL. Before moving to Myrtle Beach with his wife Jackie. Mel enjoyed working at Nordyne Inc., playing slow pitch softball, fishing, golfing and bowling. In addition to his parents Mel is predeceased by a son: Gregory Edward Griffin.
Surviving are his wife: Jacqueline Geddings Hofmeister; children: Scott Hofmeister, Craig Hofmeister (Shanna), Candace Quinn (Richie), Russell Griffin (Amy), and Kristina Hearty (John); grandchildren: Christine Meyer, Jesse Quinn, Ethan Hofmeister, John Tibbs, and Corey Griffin; great-grandchildren: Serenity Kasper and Rylee Claire Griffin; siblings: Dale Hofmeister, Jeanette Griffin, Linda Seibert (Bill), Marsha Geimer, Vicki Smith (Tim), Mark Hofmeister, Ralph Hofmeister, Richard Hofmeister, Myra Hofmeister, Sharon Witmer (Mike), and Terry Hofmeister, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be private and held at a later date.
