It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Margaret Desmond, 72, our loving and devoted mother and friend to all whose lives she touched. She passed away peacefully on January 28, 2026, in her home in Murrells Inlet, SC.
Margaret was born on December 15, 1953 in Albany, New York, to the late Stelio and Antoinette Stricos. Although, born in Albany, Margaret grew up in Colonie, New York, and spent most of her life there before moving to the South Carolina Coast. She worked many years as a hair dresser, and after retiring from that profession, she worked many years as a Teachers Aid for special needs students at South Colonie Schools.
Margaret is survived by her beloved husband Carl Desmond, her son Christopher Desmond, and her brother Tom Stricos. She also leaves behind many loving cousins.
Margaret had many passions in her life, she was an avid sports fan and loved watching football and college basketball games every weekend. She loved to gamble, either with her daily Lottery tickets and scratch-offs, or her yearly trips to Gulfstream Casino, in Southern Florida. She also loved to shop whether at the grocery store or clothing stores. Margaret lived a full life and had many loves in her life, but most of all she loved her family. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.
A private gathering will be held on a later date to honor Margaret’s life, for close friends and family.
Myrtle Beach Funeral Home, 4505 Hwy 17 Bypass South, Myrtle Beach, SC 29577 is assisting the Desmond family with arrangements.
