Marcel Daigle Obituary

Marcel Francis Daigle, Jr. 1947 – 2025

Marcel Francis Daigle, Jr. passed away on January 1st 2025 at Grand Stand Hospital in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina at the age of 77.

Marcel was born on June 19th, 1947, in Winsted, Connecticut to Marcel Daigle, Sr. and Cecelia Leona. Marcel graduated from Chicopee Comprehensive High School. After graduating, Marcel chased after his dreams and became a successful entrepreneur in the amusement and entertainment industry for many years, he owned and ran carnival games and rides and travelled all across New England. After retiring from the amusement industry, Marcel went on to own a mechanic and oil changing shop Eagle Speed Oil and Lube in Springfield, MA. Finally, Marcel went on to work for the City of Springfield where he eventually retired.

Marcel was a wonderful and caring man who put family first throughout the entirety of his life. In his late 20’s, Marcel took in his youngest brother Eric and helped him to pave a better path in life after the passing of their mother. On June 22nd, 2002, Marcel married his soulmate, Kathleen Daigle, taking in her two children, Robert and Sherri, as his own, and becoming “Pepe” to their descendants, Andrew, Owen, and Taylor.

Marcel was a beautifully creative individual who had many hobbies and interests. One of Marcel’s greatest loves was for cars, Corvettes to be specific. He spent the majority of his retirement building cars from scratch and refurbishing antique vehicles. He also had a love of traveling with his wife Kathy. They had many beautiful adventures together such as cross-country motorcycle trips on their beloved Harley-Davidson and going to the Dominican Republic with their close friends. Marcel also poured his heart into caring for his pet Macaw Parrot, Rainbow.

In 2012, Marcel and Kathy made the move down to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina after building their dream home in the midst of the Carolina sunshine. Of course, this dream home included a custom-built garage for all his projects. Marcel also welcomed little Petey, a Conure Bird, into his home and his heart. Marcel spent most days with Petey sitting on his shoulder, sometimes even walking across the bridge of Marcel’s nose!

Marcel was a beautiful and kind soul, who held the magic of making anyone and everyone laugh and bringing a smile to the faces of all he came across. Marcel brought joy and life to all those close to him, and his passing will leave a void in the hearts of all those who had the privilege of knowing and loving him, and better yet, being loved by him. He may be gone, but he will never be forgotten.

Marcel Daigle was predeceased by his father Marcel Daigle Sr and his mother Cecilia Leona. Marcel is survived by his wife, Kathleen; his brothers Eric and James and sister Renee; his children Robert and Sherri; and his grandchildren Andrew, Owen and Taylor and her husband Evan. He is also survived by Randy Robare and Felicia Pepin, who he viewed as a son and granddaughter.
