Louise Totton Obituary

Louise Cecelia Bohnert Totton, 74, passed away peacefully on May 19, 2026, at Embrace Hospice House in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

Louise was born on February 6, 1952, in Weehawken, New Jersey to the late Ethel Bohnert and William Bohnert.

Louise was known for her talent and her intelligence. Early in her career, she started as an Installer, then Account Manager, and finally a Director at Composition Systems Inc., working to digitize newspapers around the world. There, she met her husband, Jonathan Totton, who she was married to for 39 years. In one of her favorite roles, Louise worked as a Software Quality Assurance Manager for an e-greeting card company in Redmond, Washington called Smilebox, where she met many talented designers and friends.

Louise tended a beautiful garden, was a talented seamstress, enjoyed playing tennis and the piano, and was a fabulous cook. She was known for being a wonderful travel companion, loved combing the beach for sea glass, and retained her skills as a majorette, twirling her baton until the very end.

She leaves behind many cherished family members, including her only daughter, Samantha Louise Totton, her husband, Jonathan Daniel Totton, her brothers, William C. Bohnert and Stephen G. Bohnert, and many more.

Memorial donations may be made to the Mesulam Institute for Cognitive Neurology & Alzheimer’s Disease in Louise’s honor. In her final years, Louise was diagnosed with a form of dementia called Primary Progressive Aphasia. Further research in this area is critical for understanding and preventing this disease.

Her life will be celebrated at a private service on Friday, May 29, and her ashes will be spread in the Puget Sound in Washington State where she spent over 30 years.
