Linda Lou Avallone-Macdonald

Linda L. Avallone Macdonald, 69 of Longs, SC, passed away, surrounded by her adoring family into the hands of the Lord on August 2, 2025 at Grand Strand Hospital. She was born in Lowville, New York to Carol Steria Kiemle and Joseph Steria Jr. She was preceded in death by her parents, beloved step-father Bob Kiemle, sister Deborah Steria, grandson CJ and great-grandson Jeffrey Riggins.

Linda is survived by her husband Charles P. Macdonald, three daughters Nicole Avallone, Angela Avallone, Jessica Avallone, step-daughter Kathryn Macdonald, and step-son Charles Macdonald Jr. She was also blessed with 11 grandchildren as follows: Ashley, Nicolas, Ryan, Tyler, Keisha, Keiera, Jadaveon, Alayah, Jason, Antonio and Madison. Additional blessings received in the way of 7great- grandchildren: Jayden, Chloe, Autumn, Emily, Sawyer, Mia and Tucker. She also has a sister, Nancy Campos, and brother, Jeff Arquiett. She also leaves behind a host of friends and extended family members. Last but not least is her beloved cat named Earl.

Her high school education was completed at Carthage Central Jr.-Sr. High. As a dedicated, working mom, she later in life, attended Jefferson Community College in Watertown, NY to earn an Associate Degree in Business Administration with a certificate in Accounting. With hard work and determination, which were second nature to her, she achieved the designation of ABO certification (American Board of Opticians).She worked as an Assistant Retail Manager.

For several years Linda attended Centenary United Methodist Church in Conway, SC and later on worshipped via the online services. Her favorite hymn was “Walk in The Garden”. Almost ten years ago, she underwent a miraculous, life-saving, double lung transplant. She acknowledged that her Christian faith and love of family is where she drew her strength from.

As a talented crafter, she created beautiful ceramics, crocheted afghans and mini Christmas stockings for Grandkids to share with classmates. Christmas was her favorite holiday and shopping for the following year may start as early as December 26th . Her generous heart and caring spirit were shown through her donations/support to the less fortunate. One could always count on her quick wit to provide a laugh or to put you in line, especially at family gatherings. She enjoyed gardening, swimming, spa time with her girls, feeding the birds (especially Cardinals and Hummingbirds), and “Words with Friends” game on her phone, Along with her husband, attending sporting events and school activities for the Grandkids were a highlight. Her greatest joy was being a Grandmother.

Linda taught us many things but learning to be without her was not one of them. In the absence of that lesson she would want us to rely on Philippians 4:13.
