Lawrence “Larry” Waters, 83, of Conway, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2026. Born on July 18th, 1942, in Baltimore, Maryland, Larry lived a full and vibrant life marked by love, dedication and cherished memories.
Larry was the beloved husband of Beverly Bowers Waters, with whom he shared an extraordinary 64 years of marriage. Together they built a family that became the cornerstone of his life. He is survived by his children: Larry Waters (Robin), Wayne Waters (Kathy), Kevin Waters, and Denise Brooks (Walt). His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Carrie Dennison (Larkin), LJ Waters (Laura), Brandon Waters (Tina), Melissa Waters, Melanie Llerena (Freddy), Wayne Waters, Jr. (Emily), Kimberly Brooks (Chase), Meghan Brooks (Jared), Krystal Waters (Kevin), Kevin Waters, Jr (Abby), Nicole Black, and Greg and Mattew Black. Larry was also blessed with numerous great-grandchildren: Cody (Akevia), Brianna, Abby, Nick, Arianna, Brooke, Kacey, Allysa, Kenny, Layla, Collin, Jayden, Miranda, McKenna, Alexus, Amelya, Rylee, Liam, Makenzie, Madelina, Cali, Chase, Paisley, Owen, and Adley-and a great great-grandson Terry.
Larry is also survived by his siblings: Roy Waters, Francis Waters (Sharon), Doris Sheets (Robert), and Rose Jarboe (Al); He predeceased by his parents Thomas Waters and Doris Booker Schillinberg (Steve); his brother Thomas Waters (Betty); and his grandson Walter Brooks, Jr.
A man of many interests and talents, Larry found joy in playing softball, hunting, and bowling. He had a passion for western movies and delighted those around him with his unique ability to create humorous lyrics to songs on the radio. Fondly known as “the candy & gum man” Larry’s playful spirit brought smiles to all who knew him.
Larry will be remembered as a kind-hearted and hardworking individual who encouraged others with his down-to-earth demeanor. His caring nature left an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to cross his path.
May the memory of Lawrence “Larry” Waters bring comfort to all who loved him. A celebration of life will be on July 18th, 2026 at 4pm at Poplar Community Church, 5095 HWY 701 North.
