Kathy Ann Collins, beloved wife, mother and grandmother passed away peacefully on March 24, 2026, at the age of 67. Kathy, a cherished resident of Sunset Beach, NC, was the heart and soul of our family, and her absence leaves an irreplaceable void.
Born in Baltimore, MD, on September 15, 1958, Kathy was the eldest of four vibrant siblings, a daughter to the late Howard Ritenour II and Sharon Hamilton. From her earliest days, she embodied a spirit of warmth and devotion that would define her entire life. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Rickey Lee Collins.
Kathy’s life was a testament to selfless love and unwavering dedication. As a devoted homemaker, she poured her energy into nurturing her family, creating a haven of comfort and joy. Her kindness knew no bounds, her generosity was legendary, and her support for her family and friends was an unwavering pillar. Many of us, can fondly recall her gentle care as she lovingly babysat countless nieces and nephews and tirelessly helped raise her cherished grandchildren.
Her passions were simple yet profound: the tranquil beauty of the beach, the escape of a good book, the thrill of watching sports, the excitement of amusement parks, and above all, the precious moments spent surrounded by her family. These were the moments where her brightest smiles shone and her joyful spirit truly soared.
Kathy leaves behind a legacy of love, carried on by her two loving children, Joey (Aubrey) Collins & Stacey Collins.
Her spirit will forever be etched in the lives of her six adored grandchildren: Justin Miller, Mackenzie Miller, Cody Collins, Dean Collins, Addison Bailey, and Remy Collins. She is also survived by her four brothers, Howard Ritenour III, Richard Ritenour, Leonard Hamilton and his wife Cathy, Michael Hamilton and his wife Tina, along with a multitude of nieces, nephews, and extended family members who were all touched by her remarkable presence.
We will gather to celebrate Kathy’s extraordinary life and share our memories in Sunset Beach, NC. In lieu of flowers, we kindly request that donations be made to the American Cancer Society in Kathy’s memory.
