Joseph Lundell Obituary

Joseph Michael Lundell, 32, of Myrtle Beach, SC, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, with his beloved dogs by his side—likely dreaming. Born on August 15, 1992, in Rhinebeck, NY, he was the cherished son of Beth Craft of Myrtle Beach, SC, and William Lundell of Poughkeepsie.

Joseph attended Stissing Mountain Middle School and graduated from Franklin Delano Roosevelt High School, where he also earned a certificate in Graphic Design from BOCES Career and Technical Institute. A gifted and deeply creative soul, Joe brought passion and originality to everything he touched—whether it was his artwork, cooking, or the music he loved. He had a sharp eye for design, a deep appreciation for live music, and a heart that was open to all things beautiful and expressive.

Joe had a green thumb and a love for nurturing plants, a gift he credited to his grandfather, who taught him the art of caretaking from an early age.  Joe also had a profound love for animals and found joy in working closely with them. He held positions at Pet Supplies Plus and Grooming by Betsy in New York. He moved to South Carolina and began working at Canine Cabana and then a veterinary trauma center in Myrtle Beach. His dogs, Whiskey and Rye, were his constant companions and will miss him dearly. They were always keeping him company in his new home in South Carolina.

In addition to his parents, Joseph is survived by his sister Grace Leggiere (Gage Minter) of Gresham, SC, his nieces Sofia, Isabella and Peyton Minter; along with his nephews Oliver of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Noah of Pawling; and many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was predeceased by his brother Robert, grandfather Eric Lundell, his Aunt Janet, and his beloved soul dog, Pandii.

The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to his Aunt Mary for unwavering support and his best friend, Alyssa McBeth for writing this, and always being there for Joe unconditionally.

“Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.”
— Albus Dumbledore (from Joe’s favorite series, Harry Potter)

A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.
