Jerry Lee Preston

In the early morning hours of Sunday September 8, 2024, Jerry Lee Preston, (Petty Officer Third Class, USN) was called home to reunite with the love of his life Ann Kenyon Preston.

Jerry was born February 2, 1948, in Wayne County West Virginia to Nola Staley Preston and Goodwin Wayne Preston, who both proceeded him in death. Jerry attended Buffalo High School where he met the love of his life and wife of 49 years, Ann Kenyon Preston, who proceeded him in death on September 17, 2021. Jerry joined the US Navy in 1969, he was a Seabee doing a tour of duty in Vietnam and later stationed in Sicily. Jerry was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Jerry never met a stranger and always had a joke or story to share. He was loved by everyone who knew him.

In addition to his beloved wife and parents Jerry was proceeded in death by his brothers Donald, Bernard Preston (Retired, WVANG) and Joe G Preston (Sergeant, USANG), his sister Judy Dickerson and his battle buddy Tree, William A Graybeal, (Equipment Operator Second Class, USN)

Jerry is survived by his two daughters Julie A Preston Dinius, (Corporal Preston, USMC) and Jenny Preston Honaker, with whom he resided in Myrtle Beach SC. His grandsons Kaleb Dinius and Colt Shaddix and his partner Amanda Hayes, and his granddaughter Airman Ashley Dinius USAF. A very special sister-in-law JoAnn Preston, his niece Kathy and her husband Sergeant First Class Richard Liston, USA, Retired. His nephew Danny J Preston (Staff Sergeant, USAR) and his wife Marianna. Two special family friends, April Cottle and Dionne Slavin, whom Jerry treated like his own daughters.

The family would like to thank Patriot Hospice for the care and compassion provided for Jerry and his family during his final days. There will be no service, the family will hold a private memorial at a later date.
