James Michael Carroll, 48, beloved brother, uncle, and friend of Murrells Inlet, SC passed away on March 18, 2025. Born in Edison, NJ, he moved with his family to Elizabethtown, KY in middle school before settling in Murrells Inlet where he spent the rest of his life.
From an early age, James had a love for sports, riding bikes, and skateboarding. As he grew older, his passions evolved, and he became an avid pool player. He was also a talented cook and baker, always finding joy in feeding the people he loved.
But beyond his skills in the kitchen and at the pool table, James was a loyal and faithful brother, uncle, and friend. He loved his family well and is gone too young. While we are left to wonder what life will be like without him, we will hold onto the precious lasts. The last time he sent his nephew home with a brand new bike. The last time he cooked for us. The last time he played pool. The last time he called us. The last time he smiled at us, laughed with us, spoke to us. We prayed for miracles, but maybe the miracle is that we got to know him at all.
James is preceded in death by his mother Carol Schuster and his grandmother Lola “Golden Gram” Schuster. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his brothers, Patrick Carroll (Jackie) and Michael Carroll (Lana); his niece Kyla Carroll; his nephews Kaden, Ethan, and Cru Carroll; his Uncle C.J. Schuster; and many other family members and friends.
A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.
