Jack J. (Sarge) Snipes
Senior Master Sergeant, USAF, retired, Jack J. Snipes, 92 passed away at Veterans Village, Florence, SC on Monday, October 7, 2024.
Jack was born Aug. 27, 1932 in Lancaster, SC, son of Jannie Adams Snipes and George Odell Snipes.
Jack joined the USAF in 1950 and served his country honorably until retirement in 1975. His last duty assignment was Security Police Squad (SAC). He served in several countries, including
Vietnam. He earned the Air Force Commendation medal, 2 Bronze Stars, among many other ribbons and medals during his career. He served at Myrtle Beach AFB from 1960-1966, where
his name is listed on the MB AFB Wall of Service at Warbird Park. Jack returned to SC and lived in Little River, SC. He loved being back in SC and loved his country, was a true patriot and proud of his military career.
He was pre-deceased in death by his wife, Gertie Mattingly Snipes, of 60 years; 2 sons, Glen Steven Snipes and Robert William Snipes(Cheryl), and a brother, George Carson Snipes(Mary).
Survivors include sons, Dana George Snipes of NMB, Gary Alfred Snipes(Martha) of CO, Randy Lee Snipes, NV, Larry Brandt Snipes, CA, a sister, Betty Snipes Dusenbury (Walter) of NMB and
numerous grands and great-grands.
Graveside services for S/MSGT Snipes will be held at Florence National Cemetery on Friday, October 18th at 2:00 pm.
