Gerald McIntyre Obituary

Gerald (Jerry Mac) McIntyre of Conway, SC, succumbed to his battle with cancer on August 18th 2024.
Jerry was born on July 26, 1948 in Detroit, MI. to Daniel and Margaret McIntyre. He was raised in Farmington, MI. With his two brothers Mike and Tim. After graduating from Farmington High School he enlisted in the United States Army, where he served as a radio operator from 1967-1969 in the Vietnam War. Jerry was a proud Vietnam Veteran.
He was hired in at General Motors in 1977 at the Livonia Parts Plant. Livonia is also where he raised his family. In 1995 he transferred to the Flint Plant from which he retired from after 30 years at GM.


Jerry married the love of his life Mary McIntyre and resided in Brighton, MI until moving to Myrtle Beach, SC for retirement. He was able to enjoy 17 years of retirement doing his favorite pastimes of cooking, eating, fishing and Harley riding. Visits to Florida and back home to visit his family. Jerry was a lover of Rock & Roll and concerts which he proudly passed onto his children and grandchildren. He was affectionately known to his family as Doppy, a name that was given to him by his grandchildren. He had an infectious laugh and sense of humor, with phrases and nicknames for those he held dear. He lived his life to fullest and loved God, country, his family and friends.


Jerry is survived by his wife Mary McIntyre. His children: Sarah (Chris) Forsythe, Matthew McIntyre, and Anna (Jackie) McIntyre. His brother: Timothy (Nancy) McIntyre and Michael McIntyre (deceased). Step-Children: Ashley (Eddie) Bushong and Bryan (Bree) McColl. Grandchildren: Nathan Forsythe, and Ali Forsythe. Ethan McIntyre and Ella McIntyre. Step-grandchildren Kaela, Hunter and Ryder Bushong, and Elliot, Caleb and Brayden McColl. Beloved Uncle to Joe McIntyre, Scott (Elaine) McIntyre. Stephen McIntyre.


Service to be held on October 10th, 2024 at 11am at Great Lakes National Cemetery 
4200 Belford Rd Holly, MI 48442


Luncheon to follow at St Paul’s Episcopal Church 200 W St Paul Street Brighton MI 48116.
