Eric Lee Sox, of Myrtle Beach, died unexpectedly on August 20, 2024.He was 64 years old.
He is preceded in death by his mom Sarah Graham Sox, and his dad, Samuel Lund Sox Jr. He is survived by his two children, David Eric Youngsam Sox (Perri) of Florida, and Ashley Michelle Sox (Selman) of Florida.
He is also survived by brothers Samuel Lund Sox III (Lia Michelle Roberts-Sox) of Australia and Greg Allen of Greensboro, NC. Also, sister Heather Sox Shoemaker (Vaughn) of Myrtle Beach. Surviving nephews are Hunter Vaughn Shoemaker of Myrtle Beach, and Michael John Webster of Australia, niece, Rachel Sarah Riotto (Joseph) and great nieces Madeline Selene Riotto, Lily Anne Riotto, and great nephew Liam Joseph Riotto, all of Myrtle Beach.
Eric served in the United States Navy from 1977-1979. He was honorably discharged.
He attended East Carolina University where he studied acting. His claim to fame was studying acting with Sandra Bullock at ECU. He moved to New York City where he was an actor and was hired to do Bruce Willis impersonations. He worked as a photographer for Disney, and free lanced as a photographer for many years after. He was a die hard tarheel fan, and knew more sports statistics than anyone I knew. He was a Trump supporter, and a patriot. He lived with a certain Hakuna Matatta thought process of life.
In his last few years he was the main caregiver for our father as his health deteriorated. We always told him that he had missed his calling because he was the funniest person we had ever met. His wit and quickness to come up with funny responses was off the chart. He loved to make people laugh and did so often. He was a smooth talker and a natural salesman. His death was a devastating loss to all of us, but we know that he is with our mom and dad now, and that gives us peace. He is now an angel, helping those of us remaining to continue becoming.
His funeral will be Friday, August 30, at 1pm at the Florence National Cemetery..
He will be buried with military honors and placed alongside our parents.
The world is a better place for his time among us.
He will be dearly missed.
We bid you Godspeed.
Son. Brother. Father. Uncle. Friend.
Until we meet again.
Eric Lee Sox
