Delbert Amis, age 84, went to be with the Lord on May 27, 2025. He will be missed by many friends and family.
Del was born in Hazard, KY on August 12, 1940. Del grew up in the Newport News, VA area. There he married his high school sweetheart, Carolyn. He began working at the Newport News Shipyard where he earned a scholarship to attend VA Tech. Del began college life, married and the father of three children. Upon graduating in 1969 with a master's degree in mechanical engineering, he began a long career in Richmond, VA with Dupont.
After retiring, Del and Carolyn bought a motor home and travelled the country visiting all 48 lower states as well as Alaska. They shared many adventures and made lifelong friends.
Del loved his friends and family. And would often go out of his way to help those in need. Most of all, Del loved the Lord with all his heart and would never be shy in sharing his faith.
