David Allen Seman, 76, passed away on April 7, 2026, just hours after spending his final day with his wife Karen and his children Matt and Becky by his side.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Karen Katherine Seman; son Matthew William Seman and daughter-in-law Beth Seman; daughter Becky Katherine Ellsworth and son-in-law Scott Ellsworth; brother Larry Seman; and grandchildren Mikayla, Mallory, Rae, and Kai, who brought him so much joy.
Born to Bill and Delphine Seman, David grew up to spend decades in the IT field before his later years found him volunteering at his local library — helping others uncover and understand their family histories. His genealogy work preserved family stories and legacies, and he took real joy in passing that gift along.
Throughout much of his life, he enjoyed the outdoors — fishing, boating, and camping were a big part of who he was. Summers meant weekends at the lake in Indiana or family beach vacations, and Dave loved the road trips just as much as the destinations.
In death, David is reunited with his parents, Bill and Delphine, and two beloved dogs — Lady, his first, and Rusty, his faithful companion in later years.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations in David's memory to the National Genealogical Society (https://form-renderer-app.donorperfect.io/give/national-genealogical-society/donatetongs)
