Clifford Pryde Obituary

Clifford A. Pryde, 85, of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina passed away in his home on the 25th of April 2025.

Cliff was born in Liverpool, England on the first of August 1939 to Alan C. Pryde and May (Brownrigg) Pryde.  He lived and worked in Liverpool, starting his career at Denton’s Hairdressing Supply and part time at Craywoods Casino.

He enlisted in the British Army and served from 1960 –1962, stationed in Sandhurst.

Cliff received a job offer to work at El Casino in Freeport, Bahamas and arrived there January 1, 1976. He worked at El Casino (later Princess Casino) for over 17 years. While in Freeport he became a certified scuba diver.   After Cliff left the Bahamas he lived in Florida for a year, then moved to Louisiana where he worked at the Isle of Capri Casino in Lake Charles for 17 years.

Cliff made many, many friends along the way and his generosity was well known, as was his storytelling – especially the stories of the Beatles in the Cavern Club in Liverpool. He spent every lunch hour there and often recounted his memories of those special days.

Cliff is survived by his wife Joyce of 40 years, his stepson: Michael, Michael’s wife Amber, and their two daughters: Leah and Bailey. He is also survived by his two sisters: Joyce Pryde Dickson, Maureen Pryde Hale and her husband Paul Pryde – along with many nieces, nephews, and their children.

He is predeceased by his parents: Alan and May Pryde, Beryl Pryde Steele and her husband Joseph, by his brother-in-law: Bruce Dickson, and his stepson: Steven Dalli.

A celebration of life is being planned for August 1, 2025, in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. His ashes will be scattered in Freeport, Bahamas.

He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
