Christopher L. Parnell, lovingly known as Chris, went to be with his Lord on May 3, 2026, at his home in Surfside Beach, SC, after courageously enduring cancer for several months. He was 70 years old.
Born on January 18, 1956, in Greenville, SC, Chris was the son of the late Ralph Parnell and Bonnie Garren Parnell, who survives him, of Marietta, SC. He was a devoted husband, loving father, cherished friend, and respected professional whose life touched many.
Chris excelled in athletics during his high school years, standing out in both basketball and football. He carried that same determination and discipline throughout his life. He graduated from Lander University in 1979 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and soon after earned his CPA license. Chris built a successful career as a Certified Public Accountant, where he was admired not only for his professionalism and expertise, but also for the genuine care he showed to his many clients and business associates.
Above all, Chris treasured his family. He was married for 46 wonderful years to the love of his life, Sharon Tucker Parnell. Together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and memories to last a lifetime. He was a proud father to his son, John Christopher Parnell of Myrtle Beach, SC, and his daughter, Courtney Nicole Parnell of Greenville, SC, who preceded him in death. Chris had adoring siblings who brought so much joy to his life. His brother Tony Parnell of Travelers Rest, SC who is survived by him. His brother Sammy Parnell and sister Wanda Shivers who preceded him in death. Family meant the world the Chris.
Chris was known for his warm spirit and wonderful sense of humor. Always the jokester, he had a special gift for making others laugh and brightening every room he entered. His kindness, faith, and joyful personality will be remembered by all who knew and loved him.
He leaves behind a family grateful for the many happy years they shared with him, and countless friends who will miss him dearly. Though his earthly journey has ended, his love and legacy will live on forever in the hearts of those he touched. A life well lived, a man well loved, and a soul now at peace.
