Charles "Charlie" Bailey Obituary

Charles “Charlie” Arthur Bailey, 79, passed away on February 26, 2026, at McLeod Seacoast in Little River, South Carolina.

Charlie was born on September 28, 1946, in Charleston, West Virginia to the late Benjamin Walter Bailey and Augusta Dye Bailey.

Charlie built a life centered around compassion, dedication, and service to others. A proud Registered Nurse, his profession was more than a career- it was his calling. He was deeply passionate about his work and committed himself to providing kind, professional, and attentive care to every patient he served. Nursing was truly his life’s work, and he will be remembered for the comfort and dignity he brought to so many. Charlie had a great love of crafting, especially personalized greeting cards and gifts.  Charlie taught a number of classes own his skills so he could pass along to others.

For many years, Charlie and his beloved partner, Marco T. Lucas, made their home in San Francisco, where they built a life filled with love and shared experiences. Later, they relocated to Longs, South Carolina, continuing their journey together. Their many years side by side were a testament to their devotion and enduring partnership.

Beyond his professional life, Charlie had a generous heart. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to friends and neighbors, offering support, advice, and care whenever it was needed. His kindness extended far beyond the hospital walls.

He leaves behind many cherished nieces and nephews in the Bailey family, along with his devoted partner, Marco T. Lucas, who will forever hold his memory close.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Italian Greyhound Association in Charlie’s honor.

No services are planned at this time.

Charlie’s legacy of compassion, dedication, and quiet generosity will live on in the many lives he touched.
